TMT TECHNOLOGIES

TMT : TMT stands for Thermo Mechanically Treated Bars. The TMT bars have a hard outer surface and a softer core. Their manufacturing process includes hot rolled steel wires passed through water in controlled temperature and water pressure. This makes the surface hard and keeps the core warmer and softer.Three major stages of conversion of steel billets into Indrola TMT bars are

Quenching

  • When a hot-rolled bar leaves the final mill stand, it is instantly quenched using a special water spray system in the quenching box, hardening the surface while the core remains hot and austenitic.

Self Tampering

  • After leaving the quenching box, the core continues to supply heat to the surface since it remains at a relatively higher temperature. This causes the tempering of the outer martensitic layer into a structure called tempered martensite. The core remains austenitic at this stage as well.

Atmospheric Cooling

  • The bar leaving the finishing mill is passed to a special cooling bed, where the austenitic core transforms into a ductile ferrite-pearlite structure. The final structure is thus a perfect combination of a strong outer layer (tempered martensite) and a ductile core (ferrite and pearlite). This composite microstructure is primarily responsible for the unique combination of high strength and ductility in Indrola TMT Bars.

Our final product undergoes several testing processes to ensure that we deliver the best quality to our customers. We analyze and scrutinize our products at various stages of the manufacturing process to meet our quality standards. The foundation of our business is built on quality, performance, and customer service.

Our state-of-the-art laboratory helps us test the quality of the bars produced in our production unit. Our testing team works tirelessly to analyze proof stress, ultimate stress, elongation, bending, re-bending, cup formation, cone formation, and transverse cracks to ensure the highest quality.
